Ballet student Maxine Ciantar recently returned from two Comenius trips to Cyprus and Germany, where she had the opportunity to dance excerpts from The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.
Ms Ciantar, who is 16 years old, started her dance training at the Brigitte Gauci Borda School of Ballet at the age of four, participating in numerous shows, TV programmes and concerts.
She has taken part in numerous ballet productions locally, including The Nutcracker in 1999 with principal guest artistes from Ballet West Sarah and Jonathan Barton, as well as Coppelia in 2004, with principal guests from Ballet Russe Chika Temma and Zhanat Atymtayev. Both productions were under the direction of international choreographer Terence Ethridge, who has once again been invited by Brigitte Gauci Borda to stage Swan Lake for her school`s 20th anniversary show due to take place on the 5th and 6th December at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta
In the meantime, Cecchetti Examiner Stefania Sansavini who was examining in Malta last June, awarded scholarships to two talented students - Jacob Borg and Phoebe Schembri.
The three students will all be dancing in ‘Swan Lake’ after a successful audition with ballet mistress Sianne Strasburg and Mr Ethridge.
